Starting a family as a queer person can be an arduous—and expensive—process. But whether you’re doing IUI, IVF, working with a surrogate or donor, or relying on at-home insemination, there are things you can do to optimize your chances of conceiving, says Dr. Jess Nazareth, a naturopathic doctor who frequently works with queer patients on fertility-related care.  

From lifestyle changes like improving nutrition and getting more sleep, to more involved processes like baseline fertility testing, there are several factors that  can help you throughout the process. Working with an inclusive team of practitioners to figure out a plan that works for you is key.
