Last year, we reached out to our readers to ask what their most pressing sexual health questions were. One reader wrote in to ask, “Are queer men really at a higher risk for STIs than the general population—or is that just stigma?”
To answer this question, we went to Michael Kwag, the executive director of the Community Based Research Centre, as part of our "Ask A Sexpert" series. In the video below, Kwag explains that STI rates are, statistically, higher than those of the general population. But, he says, there are many social and medical factors that influence this reality—and it’s important to understand what they are, in order to avoid stigmatizing stereotypes.
